SimCity 3000 is the third in the Maxis's flagship SimCity series. Maxis, a part of Electronics Arts, has put out a stunning game. Like it's predecessors, SimCity 3000 is a simulation in which you build a city from the ground up. It's an open-ended game where the player determines what he or she wants done. Goals can range from a small peaceful utopia to a giant metropolis. Throughout the game, the player as mayor has to make many decisions regarding the future of the city. SimCity 3000 sports beautiful 2-D graphics as well as many new features over it's predecessors. There is an all new garbage system for players to take care of. The loan system is actually practical now and the pipe system has become easier to maintain. Business deals are now available to pull cash strapped cities out of the gutter. Also, the interface is now very streamlined. However, all is not right in the big city. Gone is the loved terrain editor from SimCity 2000. Gone is the multiplayer capabilites of SimCity 2000 Network Edition. Also, the arcologies are gone. However, these futuristic high-population structures never really fit with the city landscape in the first place.
The SimCity 3000 Building Architect Tool however is a nice new feature available for download at SimCity 3000's web site, www.simcity.com. However, the download will take a while, especially over a dial-up connection. This add-on allows you to build your own SimCity buildings that you can use in your own game. You can build your own house or erect an enormous skyscraper. You can add your own personal touch to your city with buildings you made yourself.
